Sony Vaio which had overheated crashed and refused to boot and was showing only a blackscreen on startup.
A customer brought us this Sony Vaio which had overheated during prolonged use and crashed. The machine would no longer boot and showed only a blankscreen on startup. This image shows the machine dissasembled for maintenance. The reason that the machine was overheating was that the air vent in the laptop was fully clogged with fluff and dust. This ment we had to clean the computers cooling system to allow proper airflow back into the case which solves the overheating issue with dirty laptops, the non booting problem was not down to the overheating and was fixed separately. The machine was carefully taken apart to avoid damage to the expensive vaios case and once the computer had been serviced it was reassembled and booted into vista first time and has worked ever since.

Apple ibook G4 showing just blackscreen on startup.
This is an image taken of an Apple ibook G4 a customer brought to us for repair. The machine was failing to boot and only showed a blankscreen. The hard drive in the ibook had failed through a few years of use. Unfortunately because the hard drive had failed completely it was no longer readable at all and therefore no data could be saved. The scope of this repair project involved dissasembling the computer and reinstalling a replacement hard drive in the case and then finally reinstalling mac OSX on the drive, which gave the owner a fully working machine again with a factory fresh install of the operating system.

Apple Powermac G4 Hard Drive Removal and Data Recovery From Dead Machine
A customer had found that their Apple Powermac G4 would no longer start. Upon diagnosis of the problem we found that
the psu unit in the machine had failed and needed to be replaced. Due to the cost of a psu for the old machine the customer
asked us to remove the hard disks from the G4, recover the data on the hard disks and move the data to a new Apple Powermac G5 recently purchased as a replacement to the G4. The Apple Powermac G5 only had an 80GB hard disk fitted and so we replaced the 80GB drive with two 500GB disks giving a total of a terabyte or 1000GB of storage in the G5. We then installed Mac OSX on the first drive and setup the partition and filesystem on the second hard disk for use by the customer as addional storage. The customers data was moved to an external drive they had supplied.

ASUS AV7T Graphics Card Problem Causing Computer To Show Just Blank Screen On Startup With Warning Bleeps.
One customer contacted us looking to purchase a used computer from us. We supplied the customer with a Fujitsu-Siemens A600 small form factor desktop of slightly higher spec than their existing machine and installed the hard disk and dvd writer from their old machine into the new one. Although the graphics card had failed in the Asus, rather than carry out repair work this ment the customer got a replacement machine of higher spec than for less than it would have actually cost to repair the old machine.
Dell Dimension 5000 - Data Recovery - Hard Disk Upgrade - Windows XP Migration To New Hard Disk - Hard Drive Cloned - Windows XP Reinstall
This Dell Dimension 5000 was in a pretty bad way through malware damage. Because of the age of the drive in the machine the customer wanted to invest in a new 500GB Western Digital hard drive at the same time as getting the machine repaired to prolong its lifespan even further. Due to windows licensing issues Dell recovery media is not supplied on a disk but on your machines hard drive, therefore we had to completely clone the old drive to the new larger drive then restore Windows XP from the new drive. We spent around 24 hours recovering data from the customers old machine, cloned to a new 500GB disk, restored Windows XP to fresh then moved back the customers data onto the new bigger drive. Then machine was also professionally cleaned inside. The Computer was brought into our office by the customer and returned to the customers house by us.

Elonex Exentia - Malware, Virus + Trojan Horse Removal - Data Recovery - Windows XP Media Centre Restore + Driver Reinstallation
On loading the windows XP Media Centre Edition desktop a fake windows security essentials warning about a virus being found popped up onto the screen. Trying to launch any program resulted in failure with the program opening then closing instantly, which made getting onto the internet to install virus removal software impossible. With a few special tricks
we eventually after a couple of hours managed to perform a spyware scan which resulted in nearly 200 instances of different malware programs being found. All programs where removed however upon each restart and rescan a couple of really nasty adware programs where always still present so for safety we performed a full recovery of all the customers documents then reinstalled windows completely from scratch and finally moved back the customers data. Upon reinstallation we found that the intel proset wireless drivers that come with the elonex exentia are'nt actually the correct drivers for the wireless card and dont work so we then had to locate and install the correct driver to enable the wireless card to work properly. All together the complete job took at least 10 hours work including initial work, virus scans, data recovery, windows reinstallation, driver location and data re-transfer.
HP DV9000 Notebook Nonworking Stuck Fan Causing Overheating Problem Fixed
One of our customers originally brought their HP DV9000 in to our workshop for the back monitor bracket that attaches the monitor to the main case to be fixed and re-attached to the case as the machine had been dropped and the monitor had broken away from the main case and was loose. There was also damage to the case itself as the plastic on the monitor bevel was broken and the monitor was unmovable and jammed in position. We managed to remove broken plastic from above inside the rear hinge that was jamming the movement of the monitor and re-attached the monitor to the case on the first visit. A couple of weeks later the customer recontacted us regarding an issue where the main fan in the HP DV9000 had appeared to have stopped working which was causing siginifcant heat buildup and causing the machine to overheat. First impression would have suggested that the fan needed to be replaced as it had failed however upon dismantling the machine we where able to take apart the fan itself, which only needed cleaning, and sucessfully enable the fan to start spinning again solving the overheating problem without replacing the fan. Dust, grim, hair and fluff etc blocking the air vent to the heatsink is the main cause of overheating in laptops and we are able to clean inside and fix this problem providing increased lifespan and roi.

Fujitsu-Siemens Scaleo Blank Screen On Startup Dead Hard disk Replacement Windows XP Restore
This Fujitsu-Siemens Scaleo Tower was showing just a blankscreen when turned on. Upon testing we found that the hard disk in the machine was unreadable. Hard disks have a life span of about max five years. Because the customers hard disk was completely dead we where unable to recover any data from the drive. We installed a new 500GB Western Digital Caviar Blue SATA Hard disk in the machine. The machine was very dusty so we gave the machine our pc-clean service inside the case. We restored Windows XP to boot on the new hard disk from the customers media and returned the machine to the customer. All together we spent a good four hours reseting up the machine.

Toshiba Satellite Windows XP Restore OF Damaged Filesystem Due To Spyware And Virus Hijack.
This Toshiba Satellite was brought to us in a completely unusable state. The system had been hijacked with spyware from an
infected website. Trying to open any kind of program resulted in errors, either the program would not open or it was stated that the program was missing. Price was of importance to the customer and the customer had already backed up all their information, documents and pictures etc. so rather than charge the customer for four or five hours work removing spyware we performed a full reinstall and re-setup of the machine to get it back into a fresh state that was trustworthy and safe to use for tasks such as online banking.
